Course: Advanced Algebra II, Trigonometry, Data Analysis
It is especially designed for those who are currently taking Algebra 2 level of Math, and especially those who are TJ freshmen who will take Algebra 2 in Quarter 3 and Quarter 4.
Advanced Math in Algebra II, Data Analysis, Trigonometry, and basic Statistics. It is mainly for 9 or 10 graders to gain math knowledge and solid background information on the following advanced math topics:
- Data Analysis (basic statistics, hypothesis testing, rejection rule)
- Linear Equation & Inequality Review
- Structure of number system
- Mathematical Modeling with Quadratic Functions
- Complex number
- Logarithms & Exponents
- Polynomials
- Sequences and Series
- Trigonometry
Periodical quiz and assessments
The objectives of this course are that the students will be thoroughly introduced and exposed to concepts required in the advanced Algebra 2 and Trig course. They will get well prepared for the 2019/2020 school year. The weekly review, and intensive practice include challenging problems from AOPS (Art of Problem Solving) on Algebra 2 will enable students to achieve high A’s in their base schools. TJ Freshmen and other advanced students in Math are encouraged to take the class.
Instructor: Math Professor N. has taught Math for over 26 years at all levels, from middle and high school through advanced college level. He is currently teaching college level AP Calculus. He has helped establish the advanced mathematics program at the Governor’s School Innovation Park, serving as the Mathematics Chairperson and liaison between the School, and the University Math Department. At Governor’s School he taught Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus (AB/BC),as well as supervised student STEM projects and served as student adviser.
Professor N. is a dedicated Math teacher and delivers his Math teaching with enthusiasm: engaging students, sparking curiosity, and jump-starting motivation. He taught at Oakton Academy for the past 6 years, and have received overwhelming praise from both students and parents. We are excited to have him bring his 26 years’ Mathematics teaching experience to our center.
